Stephen “tWitch” Boss, a friendly DJ for the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and dancer of “So You Think You Can Dance” fame, has died, his wife, fellow dancer Alison Holker Boss, has died.
Law enforcement sources tell us that Stephen’s wife, Allison Holker, ran into an LAPD station on Tuesday, and she was frantic because she said Stephen had left the house without his car something that wasn’t like him.
We’re told, moments later — around 11:15 AM — paramedics arrived at L.A. The hotel gets a call for a medical emergency … and they find Stephen there, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was declared dead on the spot.
The last time we had photos of her out and about in L.A. was back in September, and she talked to us about life after ‘Ellen’…seemingly happy to have more time with her family.
Stephen hosted several reality shows, including “The Real Dirty Dancing” — which aired on FOX earlier this year — and he and Alison teamed up for “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings” on Disney+.
A statement from Fox Entertainment, 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions said, “Stephen “Twitch” Boss will always be remembered for the light and joy he brought to our lives and the hearts of so many. This is a sad, painful loss of a brilliant, incomparable talent and beloved. Friend is immeasurable beyond words, and we mourn alongside his family, loved ones and fans. “twitch,” we will miss you so much.”
The Montgomery, Alabama native, who started dancing at age 16, competed on the fourth season of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2008 and finished in second place. She first caught DeGeneres’ attention in 2010, when she was part of the cast of “Dance” and worked a routine with DeGeneres, a moment DeGeneres called “a crash course in getting to know each other.”
Boss was invited as a guest DJ on “Ellen” in 2013 before heading the show the following year. He enthralled the studio crowd with the signature dance session that started every episode of the show.

Boss died by suicide, according to the LA County Medical Examiner. The LA County Coroner’s Office concluded their examination and published the report on his death on Wednesday. CNN has reached out to the LAPD and the LA County Coroner for comment.
